Karson Wellman
Operations Director
I was 15 years old when my sister worked at Akiva with her husband. They would visit each weekend with these amazing stories of camp. It was so enticing. I signed up the very next summer. The year was 2020 – Covid Year- instead of hosting summer camp, we tackled repainting buildings and clearing fence lines in the summer heat. However, there was still no denying the atmosphere. Being around Wes and Lisa Moseley was the best thing for me. The way they display Jesus is undeniable. I came back the next summer in 2021, and thankfully, we had campers! While lifeguarding at the blob, I encouraged a little girl who was too scared to jump. When she finally faced her fear, the excitement on her face was unforgettable. She kept coming back, calling me her “favorite lifeguard.” At the end of the week, she asked to sign my shirt. Under her name, she wrote, “Thank you.” My heart melted, and I knew I had found my calling. I want to spend my life working with and helping children. I married my wife, Yarely, in 2024 and we began working in public education together. The convenient thing about working in the school system was having summers off. In the summer of 2026, I had to show my wife the beauty of Akiva. Towards the end of summer Wes approached me about a full-time position at Camp Akiva. After much prayer and consideration, I decided to join the Akiva family!.
